FITNESS

Borden's Primary Health Centre has a fitness room open during regular hours Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. Fitness room has a treadmill, exercise bike, recumbent bike, exercise ball and strength training machine. A yearly membership is available at $15/year per person.

Appointments are necessary as the clinic is busy.

 

After hours, if it is not an emergency (for emergencies dial 9110), if you regularly see the doctors in Borden, contact the Academic Family Medicine Clinic in Saskatoon (Ph: 655-4200) and the doctor on-call will talk with you and decide on your medical treatment.

 

Nurse Practitioner/Registered Nurse

  • A Nurse Practitioner RN(NP) is an RN with extra training and licensing that allows them to diagnose , prescribe medications, treat common medical conditions and perform minor procedures (e.g. suturing).

 

Hours:

Monday - Wednesday RN (NP)
Thursday and Friday - RN or RN (NP)

Registered Dietitian

  • meets with clients and their families at the Centre.
  • provides information on general nutrition topics including Canada's Food Guide, menu planning and budgeting, special diets of any kind such as diabetes, weight loss or weight gain, salt, calcium and iron, renal diet;
    cardiac diet; chewing and swallowing problems which require texture
    modification or any topic relating to food and improving nutrition.

 

Hours: One day a month

Lab and X-Ray

  • this involves blood tests and X-Rays.
  • please make an appointment to ensure time for lab specimens to be sent on the bus to St. Paul's Hospital for testing.
  • requisitions for lab or X-Ray work from a Physician or Nurse Practitioner, other than those at Borden, are also welcome.

Note: lab services may be unavailable on Tuesday mornings due to previous commitments at the nursing home.

 

Pharmacy Services

  • pharmacy services are provided on-site by a pharmacist from Walkers Pharmacy and an assistant.
  • prescription services, medication information and advice are provided. A
    wide variety of over-the-counter medication is also available. Items not in stock can usually be ordered and received the next business day.

Rural Quality of Life Program, Mental Health & Addiction Services

  • offers services of a clinical social worker and a psychiatric nurse.
  • services include: individual and couples counselling on a variety of issues, including (but not limited to) depression, grief, anxiety, relationships, stress, medication management and coping.
  • sessions can be scheduled at the Borden Primary Health Centre, in a
    client's home, or in the office in Saskatoon. Kim Tucker may be

Client Patient Access Services (CPAS)

  • provides assessment and coordination for community-based services, such as Home Care, Meals on Wheels, Long Term Care, Community Day Programs, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, etc.

Health Line
