Memorial Park

Borden Memorial Park

Borden Memorial Park is located on the east edge of the village, with parking access from Heritage Street. Covering approximately 22 acres of prairie parkland along Shepard’s Creek, the park is a central hub for recreation, events, and outdoor enjoyment in the community.

Park Features & Amenities

Ball Diamonds
The park includes two ball diamonds that support adult slo-pitch, youth fastball, and learn-to-play baseball programs. The diamonds are also a key venue during Diefenbaker Daze, when the park hosts an annual ball tournament that brings teams and visitors to the community.

Play Structure
The modern play structure is a popular destination for families and was installed with support from the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Grant in 2017. It provides a safe, engaging space for children to play while remaining close to other park amenities.

Outdoor Rink & Multi-Use Space
The outdoor rink is typically ready for use by Christmas, weather permitting, and is a gathering place for winter skating and shinny. During the summer months, this space is repurposed for learn-to-play ball programs and serves as a central event area during Diefenbaker Daze, hosting the beer gardens, cornhole tournament, community supper, and evening dance. The Parks and Recreation Committee also hosts Winterfest, featuring a community shinny tournament and winter activities.

Disc Golf Course
The park’s disc golf course was professionally designed and continues to evolve. New trees have been planted throughout the course to enhance play, improve long-term course quality, and add to the natural landscape as the park matures.

Public Washrooms
Seasonal public washrooms are available during peak use periods and community events.

Picnic Shelter & Picnic Areas
A pole-style picnic shelter with picnic tables offers a shaded area for gatherings, meals, and casual use. Several picnic tables have been recently updated, making this a comfortable spot for families, groups, or event participants.

Walking Trail & Natural Area
The park features a 3.5 km walking trail that winds through prairie grassland and along Shepard’s Creek. Recent tree planting enhances shade and long-term trail development. Along the route are benches, a picnic table, and scenic viewpoints. The trail also supports the Borden School outdoor classroom area and includes a small community orchard, where residents are welcome to pick and enjoy fruit.
