Largest Tree in Saskatchewan
The largest tree in Saskatchewan is a remarkable cottonwood–balsam poplar hybrid, recognized for its impressive size and longevity.
Despite having its top shorn off by lightning, the tree still stands approximately 21 metres (68 feet) tall. Its massive trunk measures 5 metres (16 feet) in circumference, and its branches spread an extraordinary 32 metres (over 104 feet).
The tree is estimated to be 160 years old and is commonly known as the Popoff Tree, named after Samuel J. Popoff, the first recorded owner of the land on which it stands.
